Turbo whine

I just installed the MBRP 4 inch turbo back kit no muffler no cat and the first thing I hear is the turbo screaming its a$$ off. I know the truck was going to sound different but I hear the turbo over the rumble of the exhaust. Is this normal?

YUP, Get it wound out and around 2500-2800 you will hear the exhaust. I have a muffler on mine and it does the same thing.

My dad has the same on his 03 and he loves it. It sounds like an jet prepping for takeoff. He even had one guy ask him if he had a supercharger. My 06 is straight pipe but it just growls at you.

welcome to the joys of owning a 6.0

I can't hear my exhaust over the turbo any time under 2200 RPM. after that it's like someone hit the roar switch

I was just making sure my old chevy 6.5 didnt sound anything like this and didnt run nearly as well either. I am really liking this truck so far. I did find a coolant leak under the egr cooler so I am going to try and talk the car lot I got it from into the egr delete kit and a coolant filter. My main selling point to them is they dont want to have to replace the motor or heads. I bought it from work and they have it covered by a in house bumper to bumper warranty.
