Studs/Oil Cooler Cost

It's me again- just curious what y'all's studs/gaskets and oil cooler fixes cost? I'm thinking if the dealership will work with me, I may just bite the bullet and do the studs/gaskets along with the oil cooler. I'm at 2476 now for the cooler and assorted related parts replacement along with a new key/remote. If I'm in it for that much and it's already torn down, I may go all the way. Just want to know what everyone has paid so that I'll know if they're in my ballpark or not. Thanks y'all!

Preston

A LOT More.

I would expect your price to double if not triple for the head stud installation if you are at that price level already. Usually head studs are the main cost and doing the oil cooler is an additional cost.

I found a mechanic at the dealer who does side work. $1500 labor plus parts.

Find out if you'll be able to tie up there garage bay while you have the heads sent to a reputable machine shop to be properly checked for flatness, cracks, and pressure tested.

Send a message via Yahoo to Dave
Studs and an oil cooler install run roughly 2800-3k

I was just quoted 3500, 3700, and 5200 from 3 differnt local diesel shops. That included sinisters master solution kit and having the heads sent to a machine shop.

3500, 3800 not a bad price if they are a good shop. I am getting mine done at a good shop, and a discounted labor because it is there slow time is 1500. I am supplying all the parts about 1800.

Did you get your truck back? Is it running good now? No overheating issues?

Well, originally, they had quoted a ballpark of 4700, but then I decided to just do the cooler and that was 2400... If they can still do around 4700, I may just go all the way then put a tuner and monitor on it and be done. ( I hope)

This shop always sends the heads off to the best guy in this area, so if they go back on, I know that they'll be good. I just want to be able to quit worrying and just drive this thing... and I think by studding it, i'd be more at ease with the truck. I love it and want to keep it, and if I spend all of this on it, then I'll hafta keep it basically forever... It will all be contingent on what they quote me...
