Some have both some have none. I personally just ordered my 4in turbo back straight pipe. No cat no muff. From all of the research I have seen 4in is good all around unless you plan on heavily modifying it. I plan on mine being close to stock so I opted for the 4in. The biggest question is if you have to pass smog or not. If so then you will only be able to get away with a cat back unless you reinstall (at your own risk) the cat for inspections. I have the luxury of being able to register mine in a state that does not require smog inspections. Be careful with ebay. I found mine cheaper locally. Also search around on the net as there are several right now offering free shipping on MBRP exhaust.

Also there are guys that say the 5in will give you a more throaty sound

If you want to be 'legal' you'd have to keep the cat and muffler. But most people don't. 4inch is plenty as stated unless you just want the diff tone or have a ton of power. Turbo back is best.

You can always punch out the CAT and put it on there to make it look stock. And get a straight flow muffler if you have to wind up having one. Still flows great and looks/is legal.

I went with a 5" turbo back. Farmboys Diesel Performance - Ford | Dodge | GM | Exhausts | Turbos | Tuning | Power They have really good prices. BTW, if you dont get a cat for it, make sure you buy the car delete pipe.

I'm running 5" with a muffler but no cat. There are no smog tests for diesels in Illinois as far as I know, and it also passed yearly inspection for D plates no problem.
