stock 3.5" exhaust vs 5", more or less turbo whistle?

Just wonder this for near future mods. I've got an early '04 with '03 motor/turbo and straight piped with the stock 3.5".

Would you still be able to hear the turbo whistling good or maybe even better with a 4" dp and 5" straight pipe, or would the larger 5" pipe cut down on the whistle since it has larger pipe to "echo" into?

That whistle is the best part of having a 6.0 and wouldn't mind making it louder

The 4 inch has the best whistle effect. The 5 inch just makes it more throaty and less whistle. You won't get more than a 4 inch dp in there. Won't fit with out major mods to the cab/firewall area.

My 5 inch Straight Pipe whistles like crazy! It sounds like a Boeing 747 at idle and whistles loud until about 2200 RPMs when the sounds of the motor overpower the whistle.... I absolutely love the 5 inch... If you want whistle and an awesome tone- you want a 5 inch!

i agree. 4inch you will get more turbo whistle but 5 inch will be deeper. i think if your going to spend the money 4 inch exhaust with a 6 inch would be about perfect

I have an early 04 with 4 inch from the turbo back, well the top part of the dp is 3.5, but it is insane how loud the turbo is and I love it. Before that it was just a straight piped stock exhaust and was pretty loud but got way louder with the 4 inch. My friends have told me it is all they can hear even when they are driving in front of me. So to answer, Id say 4 inch will make it loud enough but if you want 5 inch do, it's your truck.

What he said. The 4" straight piped kits seem to have the loudest whistle to them. The 5" will still have the whistle, but the tone is much deeper so it drowns some of it out.
