Complete newbie questions on SCT Tunes

Ok everyone....please excuse my ignorance on this as I'm a complete newbie when it comes to tunes.

I just bought a used SF3 (Model 3015) and yes it is unlocked. I want to get a mild tune. My truck had head gaskets replaced by Ford under warranty last year by the previous owner. Unfortunately they used stock head bolts and I dont want to spend $5k right now to change that.

Based on what I'm reading here I will probably go with vivian's tunes but I'm a little confused. I'm not into squeeling tires or dumping black smoke. My biggest concern is mileage. My truck will probably remain stock for the foreseeable future.

Is "looney tunes" the right one for me???? Also what about towing??? Occasionally I will tow a carhauler with my 4-wheelers on it...Total weight of the trailer and 4-wheelers is MAYBE 5000 up to an absolute max of 7000 (Probably much closer to 5000....I'm just being safe here). Can I tow with looney tunes or do I need another tune or what? I'm just confused because I dont want anything thats going to cause stress for my head bolts.

Steve

Welcome to the Club...

I would say the top two custom tuners people on here use are Eric @ Innovative Diesel or Matt @ Gearhead Automotive Performance. I just got my SCT X3, and have not got any tunes yet. From what I have read I will go with Eric's tunes first. He has an 8K lb tow tune you might be interested in. If you get a wild hair, you might want to look into his Extreme Street tune to play around with. There are many guys that run these tunes with stock head bolts and have no problems--I still have stock head bolts too.
--Good Luck.

My experiences on my truck, Vivians tunes are smokey, even my tow tune. If you want the mpg go with gearhead's or truck source diesel tunes... If i switch from my looney to my TSD race tune i notice a jump in mpg
