4" is more than enough-all the 5" kits use a 4" downpipe anyway. My experience has been that the 4" has more clearance, and is less prone to rattling. Get a stainless system-it will outlast the truck! Personally, MBRP, or Diamondeye would be my nominees.

We put on a Diamond Eye 5" on my 05 today... the system is a turbo back, no cat/muffler and sounds awesome! But Dazdillenger is right- the down pipe is 4 inch and the system is actually a 4 inch all the way to the transmission crossmember where it moves up to 5 inch. I'd say a 4 or 5 inch turbo back is what you oughta go with... although I did notice today that the factory downpipe is actually a pretty decent pipe! So if you're wanting to save money, maybe just go with the cat-back since you already got rid of the cat! All that being said though....the 5 inch sounds incredible!

You can tune it out, if the windows are up. I went with the 5" for the deeper tone.

I have a 5" system, with CAT and muffler, not too much turbo whine unless I'm on it.

Mine isn't loud inside the cab at idle or normal cruising RPMs. It gets deep briefly at 1000 or so then is quiet again till around 2100 or so. When you really get on it, it is very noticable inside the cab, but not overbearing. Outside.... well.... just don't feed it much diesel if you think there might be a cop within a mile or so hearing... IT'S THAT LOUD! Just idling, from outside, the truck sounds like a Boeing 747 waiting on the runway. Again, inside, pretty quiet. I love the 5 inch- very deep tone. I'm glad I went with the 5. Hope that helps! Preston

You could go with just a cat back kit, but a full turbo back kit will be more beneficial. 4" is all you need, but 5" does look and sound great without being obnoxious. Check our site for our current Labor Day promos, let us know if we can help with anything.
