Powermax boost with stock tune?

So the powermax is in and I am waiting on my custom tunes from Matt.

While I wait, I am just running the truck with the stock tune (The canned tunes on the SF3 are useless IMHO, smokes like a freight train and twice as slow)

I have heard that the powermax without tunes is super laggy and smokes a lot which is definitely true in my case, especially with my 190s. My concern is that right now at WOT I still only see 10-12 psi while my stock turbo would hit 35 psi with the 190s and stock tune. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you guys think there is something wrong with the truck or am I just worrying too much? I want to make sure everything is good to go before I load up the custom tunes.

Wait until you get the custom tunes. It's likely operating outside of it's efficiency range or you could also have an exhaust leak, but you won't be able to confirm until you get tunes designed for the PM.

Thanks! Wouldn't I be able to see if I have an exhaust leak now?

Yes, most likely. Looks for telltale signs of soot around the up-pipe, paying particular attention to the flex section and the EGR cooler clamp area. You will need a high powered flashlight and a mirror to see all around both areas.

Worrying too much When people say the PM is laggy without tunes there is probably good cause they are saying it, you've found it to be true!

Mine acted the same way, and after the proper tune it was a totally different truck..

Ok, so I loaded up Matt's Tunes this weekend and nothing has changed

I spent over an hour trying to find some kind of an exhaust leak but I can't find anything. The manifolds and up-pipes look clean. With the amount of smoke that is pouring out of the tailpipe you would think I should be able to see some soot if there was a leak someplace. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I think I may need to seek professional help
