Get gauges first! Gauges are a must on the 6.0L. Also be careful running tunes on a truck without head studs.

For tunes I like the SF3 which has canned tunes from SCT and has space for up to 3 custom tunes. Its a nice unit!

that one comes with custom tunes with that package... it doesn't not come pre loaded with canned tunes..

there is no reason to buy the SF3 because you will never use the canned tunes once you get custom tunes.

The canned tunes in the SF3 aren't worth paying for IMO. Get an X3 and custom tunes. It's the only way to fly. You will get the best mileage out of a high horsepower tune if you can keep your foot out of the throttle but where's the fun in that.

As already mentioned gauges are a must and most importantly in your case, I would monitor EGTs, Engine Oil Temp (EOT), and Engine Coolant Temp (ECT). There are more of course that I and others think are important, which is why I highly recommend a monitoring device like an Edge CTS or Scangauge II, but if you have your heart set on gauges then thats fine and that is why I recommend monitoring those parameters because it will give you the best indication on the health of your motor. And as PGreenSVT said high HP tunes are the most likely to give you the best fuel mileage as long as you can keep your foot out of it.
