I dont know how much your 5'er weighs but I would say since you have the CTS use the 60 and just watch your temps. EOT and ECT and make sure the delta stays good. I also think you are going to want to keep your foot out of the boost to be safe with EGTs. I towed about 10K on a 100hp tune for 780 miles with no monitoring device and was fine and I even ran 80 mph (it was flat) for about 70 miles of it and was fine. Now I am not saying that I was very smart for doing that but probably lucky if anything since I wasnt studded but did have intake and exhaust mods on. Hope this helps

DON'T DO IT. Tune your truck to stock, and just be safe. Especially since you don't have custom tunes.. You need to get the EGT probe in before you can tow while tuned. The stock tune has high EGT's while cruising, but the max EGT's are hard to get above 1100°.
Get rid of the canned tunes, and get some quality tunes from Eric or Matt.. Secondly, get that EGT probe installed if you wanna run anything but the stock tune.. |

How heavy is the 5er? Are you regeared for the 38s?

When you say 1100* max EGTs are you talking about flat or pulling a grade?

What's up, man. Which route are you headed and where will you be camping? Since you don't have the probe, I would go with stock tuning. I've pulled most of the grades headed up to Flagstaff, the Mogollan Rim, etc and you can REALLY put the hurt on your turbo by towing with excessive EGT's with the grades that we pull.

I have another vote for stock until you get an EGT probe, mostly because every truck is a bit different than the other... I am very happy with my '8k Tow' tune from Gearhead Auto.

I'm talking about pulling the grades with 12-15k behind me..

Thats well within Normal EGT limits Blake.

Exactly my point, EGT's on the stock tune are well managed, and they do not get hot at all, even while towing. Thus, his best bet would be to just retune to stock, since he is lacking gauges..
