Crate motors?

I recently lost an injector and that shot a hole in my piston it seems, theres no compression left in the cylinder. So I'm kind of looking for the best option to replace my motor, I have banks intercooler, EGR delete and head studs on this one. The ford dealer says with the re-man I woldnt get a waranty after all the upgrades I have on my truck. Anyone have any good suggestions where to start?

I hear getting it remaned is around 10,000 by a dealer

Your best bet is finding a used short block.

they start at 3900 plus 1000 for core charge and they will put headstuds in for an extra 500. Cheapest I have found. 2 year 50,000 mile warranty to.

Check where you are losing your compression, Ford dealer told me my engine was done too. Took it to a local powerstroke shop who told me I was losing all of my compression out of the intake. It ended up being a bent intake valve. 1 new head and a set of HG/ARPs and i should be back on the road by the weekend. Good luck!

my motor was locked up, due to overheating, replaced with a used 06 motor from a totaled truck, look for a used block, or crate motor.

Has anyone used a Black Mamba crate engine? I see folks bring them up in discussion all the time but, I've never heard of anyone actually runnin' one.

But be careful! Right after the ford dealer told me my engine was done I went out and bought a used one that ended up having a burnt up piston lucky for me I used the heads to fix my actual problem, but im still pissed!

Once again, I wish you good luck. Might be worth going to a couple of local salvage auctions and checking prices on complete rollover trucks?
