Dash illumination wire

Hey everyone,

I need a little help if possible and sorry ahead of time for the long post.

I installed a couple of gauges this weekend and I am having problems finding the dash illumination wire. The previous owner had some sort of gauge/monitor so there was already a few taps to use at the grey connector.

However, none of them vary when I move the dash lighting up or down. The instructions from Diesel Manor are great, but are for a 2003. The connector on my 2005 is different. It still has a solid yellow at the 2nd from the left on the top, but it is a constant 12v when ignition is on.

I have heard you can tap in behind the dimmer switch, but am hesitant to do so since there are already taps in place if I can just fine the right one. My problem is that none of them change when using the dimmer.

Any suggestions??

Just pop out the headlight switch and use a test light to find the dimmer switch wire. I don't remember what color it is, but it should only take about 30 seconds to find it

Man do I feel stupid... I was looking at the wrong plug. The previous owner tied into the rectangle grey plug to the left in the picture, so I assumed that was the right plug.

Took all of 30 seconds once I found the blue wire with white stripe. Time to put down the tools!
