Intercooler Split HELP
I have a 05 F350 with studs and EGR delete stock exhaust, I just started running IDP tunes (Eco, Xtow & Street) this weekend while towing a 3,000 pound trailer up a 8% grade about 55 mph in tow tune my intercooler separated where the plastic tank attaches to to the aluminum body. I don,t have alot of time to research because I am taking the truck, camper and bike trailer on a 4,000 mile trip in a week and a half. Are these intercooler known to have problems?
Easiest way to change? And are the Mishimoto ones worth buying they are half the price of the others. I am not planning on any more mods than I have ( maybe an exhaust) should a stock one be ok? |

I would get an aftermarket one or try and fine a stock one that is all aluminum. They are harder to find but they are out there.

Did some of the OEM intercoolers come all Aluminum and if so what years?

The 6.0 never came with a all aluminum intercooler. You can get a misumoto for a pretty good price. I know of a way to get it half price, but I'll have to get the guys email.
I would also check for over boosting stock turbo should not of busted the stock intercooler unless there was a problem with it. Last edited by 06powerstroke06; 03-20-2011 at 05:43 AM. |

All I am using is the stock boost gauge and it was reading at the next line above 20 nowhere near the red. I did tow a 9,000 pound trailer earlier that day in street tune but again no high boost numbers or EGTs

The stock gauge won't read above 29 on some trucks. It doent on all 3 of my trucks

Looking at the Mishimoto Intercoolers I don't see a listing for a F350 just for 250 I can't think of any reason that they wouldn't be the same. Anyone have any input weather it should fit in a 350.
