getting heads checked at ford.
Has anbody had ford do this and actually think they took the time to check them to make sure they are good to put back on. I know they try to get things in and out as quickly as possible. They told me they will put arps in but have no warranty if something happens so can i trust them to make sure the heads arent to warped. I don't have leaking issues now just don't want to have this done twice.

depends who you take it to, some will, but most wont. By the sounds of it, they don't see too confident in their work saying they wont stand behind it... they're doing the work and they damn well know ARP studs are better than the crap TTY factory head bolts....
This could just be my mind |

I dont' know of many ford dealers that have a machine shop and the equipement to check your heads. So.. I would take them to a reputable machine shop yourself. They need to check for cracking, valve seating, and warpage.

ya the one guy at ford hates arp headstuds and says factory bolts only way to go no matter what your doing. hes an idiot but anyways i doubt they would let me take them to a shop and let my truck sit in there shop till done. I got told by a diesel shop that most all heads will not pass off 6.0 even if gaskets aren't blow. how much a shop charge to check heads to make sure there good to go.

i don't want to take any shortcuts here but how many of you just had heads put back on without being checked and been okay.

i would always get them checked. it's suprising how many have cracks Small or Large or at least need to be decked. but then again some can be perfectly fine.

I just blew a headgasket and ford replaced it. I asked if the heads were going to a machineshop to get checked. They said that ford doesnt pay them to machine the heads and if the headgasket blew again they would simply replace the head. I was also told that they have ways to check them inhouse without sending them out, if you believe that.

maybe magnaflux testing can be done without taking it two a machine shop. i'm not sure about that and it seems like every tech and dealership has there own policy that is better than everyone elses
