Can dealers revert to old strategies?

Hi, I have an 05 6.0 that I recently took to the dealer for the first time. While there, they did me a "favor" by updating my ECM and TCM without asking me. I had been running VXCF4 with Matt's SRL and loved it. I had great power and consistently hit 18 MPG's. I obviously wasn't too happy about them upgrading to VXCF9, but they claimed they couldn't revert back. So I went ahead and had Matt re-write my tunes. I seem to have the same power and shifting, but my MPG's have suffered...down to about 14-15. I have seen many other posts with similar problems and people keep talking about PHP being able to switch back for $. I would like to make the dealer put it back for free, if possible. I can't believe they aren't able to revert back to "as built" software, but perhaps I am wrong. I have been before.

Has anyone been able to get their dealer to do this, and is it even possible?

Is PHP the cheapest way to get back to VXCF4, OR should I just forget about the mileage and live with it?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

They did something that you didn't ask for. Prove to them your old mileage and your new mileage. Tell them to pay up!!!

Unfortunately we cannot revert to old programming strategies at the dealership. Once our IDS software is updated, there is no going back to older versions. I just checked into this myself today at work as I wanted to roll 6.0L back to VXCF4.

DDB, welcome to my World. My dealer did it to my truck when it only had 10 or 15 thou miles on it and the MPG's dropped way down. I was in GA. last spring and dropped by and Bill put my truck back to the way it came new, it helped my MPG some, but not like when it was new. Yes, my dealer says they can't do anything for me. Good Luck.

I've heard both, but for sure know that the dealers around here have never done it. I just ordered the PHP rollback service to at least get me back to the previous ECM and TCM strategies. I want to see if that brings my MPG's back up before I do the FICM.

I called a few dealerships and they do not do it. Once they get a new flash, they can not go back.

YES they can, they will tell you NO, but why wouldnt the dealership do that? Their updated flashes are supposed to be the most reliable and safest flashes compared to their old strategies which gave them problems in the past... at the cost of power and MPG but they couldnt give a darn less.

I have a buddy at the dealer that can do this for me, but i'd rather give PHP the business and get their hybrid flashes for the FICM at the same time
