I have a 04 f250 super duty with the 6.0 liter and I was wondering what are somethings that I can do to the truck to get more tq and better mpg. I was pulling my 38 ft toy hauler and I was getting around 9 miles per gallon. I dont know if that is good or bad. I just thought that was pretty bad. I was driving around 55 to 65 so I wasnt driving to fast.

Do you have any type of tuner on the truck? That would be my first thing with a good tow tune. A SCT tuner with a tow tune. Also do you have any other mods or is your truck stock? such as EGR delete, exhaust, etc..?

No the truck is basicly stock. I just bought the truck a few months ago and the guy said the only thing that has been done to it was head studs and new egr valve. Also a up graded radiator.

I see you are in Cali so you can't delete your EGR due to emissions testing. So, this would be my plan, 4" exhaust( these things like to breath), the stock intake is fine, a SCT tuner with custom tuning. Since you are studded, you should be fine running tuning, and get you some form of gauges to monitor what is going on under the hood. The ScanguageII, is nothing fancy, but it works, and is cheaper than alot of other monitoring devices out there. We just got one to compliment out gauges, it is pretty cool. I am sure others will chime in. Oh, the SCT not only tunes the motor, it tunes the tranny.

ok I will look into that. With the exhaust is there any specific brand that is good for diesel. I am used to gas engine's so I am getting to know that diesel side of the house.

Alot of the guys run MBRP. It is a good system.

i run a single 4" turbo back MBRP cat and muffler and it's a nice system. there are many different brands and choices like stainless aluminzed (4 or 5 inch) duel or single. you really can't go wrong with any of the major brands or exhaust from the vendors here.
