egr delete = less mpg?

Hello! First post and my first diesel so here it goes. Just bought a 05 6.0 250. Bought the truck before I knew what a nightmare these motors are. Good thing I discoverd this site. After checking out the forums I realized I had a bad egr cooler and cracked up pipe. So I got the sinister egr delete kit with oil cooler. Had a local diesel shop install the delete for me. Truck sounds much better now. Strange part is my mpg went from 16 to 11. WTF? The block off plate is installed but the egr valve is still plugged in. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Are you letting your truck idle a lot more b/c it's cold? That might drop it a little, but not 5mpg.

What kind of boost are hitting? It may be a boost leak when everything was put back together.
