Fords new update or not?

I have my truck at dealer getting ARP's and new head gaskets and Tech. asked me if I wanted him to put new update strategy. I'm a little confused about this. I will have to get new tunes because of ARP's, but will the new strategy affect anything else? I've heard it is a MPG killer but will tunes override that? My current strategy is VXCF7H3 and I've heard this is a FICM killer, does anyone know if that's true? Should I stay with old strategy or update?

I would contact I.D. to see if the new strategy will conflict with your tunes.

if you get the update VX9, your tunes will still work, BUT it would revert the truck back to the VX7 while the tune is in there. I would not do this. The VX9 isn;t THAT bad of an MPG but it beats killing the FICM. just my .02

But if I have to get new tunes anyway (because of ARP's) I'll have to provide new strategy right?

Instead of paying for a new PCM flash. Get a custom FICM tune along with your other new stud tunes

Hey Dave What is the difference between a custom FICM tune and a Stud tune or are they the same? Also When you get tunes, with a SCT, what actually does that tune? Thanks still learning
