Kinda stumped

So the other day my friend and i see each other going down the road and a couple days before he had told me he finally got his SCT and so i decided we'd play a little bit.... We hit it and stayed dead even the whole time we were on it. Same cab configuration, but i have the 8" lift and 36s and he has a leveling kit and 33s. He called me the next day to tell me that he had the SRL tune loaded...... I thought he was running the performance canned tune just like i was. And after figuring out he was running a custom tune and i stuck dead even with him lifted on tires with a canned tune? I was told customs were alot faster than canned tunes?

Did your buddy have any tuner on prior to switching to SCT? also when my HPOP was going bad, I didn't have as much power. Maybe he has an issues with the motor he doesn't know about.

He had matt send him a stock tune to erase everything before he loaded the file, and we both did the same thing just rolled into 4th at about 55(we both have hand shakers) also he said that since loading the tune his engine has run smoother and sounds healthier, It's an 07 so his HPOP should be fine. This is why im confused

IDK, it still sounds like he has an underlieing issue. When my HPOP was going bad, the truck ran smooth, it just had a lack of power compared to a healthy HPOP, and when it was weak it didn't produce the haze of smoke at WOT. I'm not saying it's the HPOP, but he might want to put his truck on a good scanner to check all the sensor reading. He may even have issues with the fuel system, like low fuel psi. Just my .02.

Or keep it a secret, and give him a spanking everytime you race!!

The only thing I can say is, my canned performance tune don't hold a candle to any of my performance custom tunes.
