Tune the FICM/ECM or get a SCT for more mpg...?

I have been looking at getting the FICM/ECM tuned by PHP to try to increase my mpg or getting a SCT with custom tunes to increase my mpg. I dont really want a lot of HP but getting a few more mpg would be great. I drive my truck daily to work and put a lot of miles on it weekly. I can currently get 14-15mpg on the highway now and would love to get 18 or so mpg. I have read that the SCT with custom tunes will get a few mpg and I have also read that tuning the FICM will get a few miles. I also know that getting either one may also not change what I am getting, but what do you guys think is a better option for the mpg?

The current strategy on my truck is VXBC9N8. I am leaning towards the SCT just becuase it does give extra HP and mpg and also that if I have to take it into the dealer and they reflash it I am not out the cost of the FICM tuning and the SCT will still work. So what do you guys think it better. One thing that I would like to get rid of with the FICM tuning is the injectors running after I shut the truck off.

Thanks for everything,

Will

dont know if this helps, but I have been running a custom tune for a month now and have noticed no mpg increase. it may be helping offset the extra gas i am using form getting on it all the time, but it is hard to say.

Getting the FICM tune and/or custom tuning gives you the OPPORTUNITY for better MPG. It is not a yes or no for increase in mpg, but opportunity.

I say do both.
You can also flash your ECM to an ealier flash like VXCF4, they have better mpg. But if you are doing the performance FICM then dont bother with changing to VXCF4.
