It just opens the vanes of the turbo to create backpressure in the motor. It's the same effect as an exhaust brake. As long as it doesn't cause overboost and spike the cylinder pressures, I can't see what it would hurt.

Ok that makes more sense but how do you trigger it?

Unfortunately it goes into "brake mode" every time you let off the throttle. I haven't used one of these tunes, but I have heard that you can learn to work it like you would a Jake brake in a large truck. If you don't let off the pedal all the way, it won't trigger.

I can't imagine that it would make much difference if you weren't in tow/haul mode. Maybe they can even program it to only work in tow mode. That would be nice.

Basically you load your tow tune into your rig, and you go about your buisness towing whatever you have. When you push in the tow/haul button and press the brake pedal the turbo braking engages. If you dont want the turbo brake to come on when you hit the brakes, say your in town or something, just turn off the tow/haul button.

A buddy of mine asked me about who's a good 6.0 tuner for setting up towing programs, and maybe a little (safe) power. He'll have supporting mods like exhaust, gauges.

SCT Xcal 2, so I figured Elite Diesel would be the way to go.. but who has tried Jody at DP tuner? He made my 7.3 really wake up, I imagine he's just as good with a 6.0?

thats kind of cool. Why wouldn't they create the tune so when it's in T/H and you let off the throttle it would engage with out having to step on the brake?

They do. He is talking about using the brakes to slow the truck down enough to get the engine turbo brake.
