Went to Ford today and think Im getting the run around.

So went to ford to get price on headstuds. Cheapest in town which I am surprised but the one mechanic there said he won't put arp headstuds in no matter what your doing to your truck. I think he completly wrong but never heard anybody ever say that. Also one place was telling me not to go with the normal arp headstuds everybody is selling because they aren't any better than the factory headbolts. Again don't really beleive him but looking for imput. I am probly going to have ford do the headstuds and oil cooler then I will do delete myself since nobody else in town will touch anything with egr delete.

Forgot to throw in there the one place told me right away if I took it in they would probably tell me my heads would be to warped more than likely already to put back on and they wouldn't do it. People on here do it all the time and wondering how true that was. My gaskets ain't blown yet either.

You're being fed a bunch of BS, get the ARP studs and their new lube to torque them down, you better be replacing the gaskets and removing the heads and take them to a machine shop to check for flatness.

but as the old saying goes, if it aint broke, dont fix. When your gaskets blow then do it.

Ya I knew I pretty much was but didn't beleive em. I know don't fix unless broke but just want my heads done so don't have to worry bout it later. I don't want to be half way someone and have them blow.

nothing wrong with preventative maintenance, but trust me the list gets longer and logner and more expensive. When you go in to do the studs/gaskets and get the heads checked, youre going to want to do other thigns as well since its all apart, like a fresh oil cooler, egr delete or bullet proof cooler, updated STC fitting on the HPOP, coolant flush, coolant filter. If you ahve the money to spend on keeping the truck most reliable thats a good start right there

ARPs will hold your heads down no matter what you do IF they are instaled correctly. Your heads must be checked for cracks and for flatness. Anyone who says ARPs are on the same level as stock bolts doesnt know much about head studs.

I feel you with the peace of mind thing. I drove mine for about 30k with out head studs and I felt like I was driveing a ticking time bomb.
