i have a 7.3 but mine is straight piped. No muffler or cat (never had a cat). Its louder and i think it keeps EGTs down a little bit because there is less restriction without the muffler. but im not an expert. it was a cheap way to make it louder.

Yeah i have a friend with a 04 and he just took out the muffler and replaced the pipe so all he has is his cat, I didnt know if this helps.

No codes at all, pre-2008 there are no sensors in the exhaust on any Ford diesels.

Pretty loud outside, not much change inside, I would reccomend cutting out the CAT first and seeing how you like it then do the muffler if your worried about sound.

your egts will drop an easy 200* with the removal of the cat, its very very restrictive.
