SCT EGR turned off
Im about to get my SCT and get the EGR valve turned off. I know it turns the valve off and all. but how does this help, if the egr is still on the truck and it can still open under high temps? is there anything that will get messed up having this turned off? Im going to get the delete soon but i want to know the pros and cons of having the SCT turn it off?

I've been communicating with Matt@gearhead about a tow tune for my 5er. I asked about additional HP and here's what he recommended:
"unfortunately I don’t recommend towing above 8k with anything more than my 8k tow file which is only a 50 HP gain..... my unlimited tow file is stock power with the EGR turned off and firmer shifting than stock." I haven't asked him about turning the EGR off and what it would do, I can only assume it must be safe as Matt's tunes are very reliable. I use his SRL tune and my truck runs awesome. |

Matt's tunes are written with EGR Off (Matt correct me if I'm wrong)...which is fine if you want to keep the EGR plugged in either way. SCT's canned tunes that are in their latest Tune Rev file also works well with Ford's latest Strategy VXCF9. SCT has even included in this new Tune Rev the ability to turn the EGR On/Off. I'm still plugged in running Matt's SRL...no problems. I will eventually delete the EGR cooler....but I will continue to keep the valve in place and plugged in while running Matt's SRL. Something to do with the fan operation??
