how hot can i get it??

so more then 1300* is not good but u can spike to that temp right?? but what bout with better head gaskets and arp headstuds?? can the truck handle hotter temps or is it the same?? i got my truck back this weekend from the head gaskets n stud job.. put a cts on it.. i have a bully dog pup on it right now on extream (jus got my sct yesterday) and when i get on it i go one mississippi two mississippi and i spike to 1200*.. is that normal?? i showed a buddy of mine how fast it gets hot and he said "we didnt go no where" so he said maybe i can go hotter now.. yall have any ideas??

You can spike your temps much higher than that. I have seen and heard or 2000* temps in a 1/4 mile . Personally I have only seen 1600*

You don't want to hold it above 1300 for extended times, even with your studs. The temp limit is due to the melting point of the pistons. Cylinder pressures are much higher at these temps, natually the studs will help keep the heads connected to the block

As a general rule, 1200° is a limit for sustained temps. Short spikes of temps can hit well beyond 1300°, just don't hold it for too long. My 06 will bury the egt at 1500° on a hard run to highway speeds, just have to let it cool down and use some common sense.

btw..hold the alt key and type in 0176 to get the degree symbol.

I hit 1700* in the 1/4. 1300* is fine as long as its not for a sustaioned period like like say more than 30secs. When you say spike do you mean it goes from like 600 right to 1200?

yeah.. but i think i was mo in the 700 range.. as soon as i let off it wnt right to 1000 and declined fast.. so i can be past 1300 for 5sec?? when i think of spike i think as in a split sec.

Oh yeah 1300 for 5 secs won't hurt a thing. I am 1300+ for well 13.107 secs haha.

oh nice.. yeah i was test drving my truck yesterday.. since i just got it back and in school i didnt want to jack it up so i did even wanna see pas 1300 haha.. thnks for sharing that info

1400* is nothing to worry about ether. really towing is the only time I pay attention to my EGTs.
