Purchasing Used SCT X3 units

I understand that the unit has to be unlocked or you have to send if off to SCT and pay the $150.00 fee for them to unlock it.

My question is, if you buy a unit that has custom tunes installed and your truck is not the same strategy, is it easy to remove those tunes from the unit? If so what do you have to do? And if not what can you / have to do to get those tunes removed?

Thx in advance...

Once you download the SCT Updater software from SCT's website...you will be able to load new custom tunes on the device...loading the new custom tunes will overwrite the present tunes. . I would Not use the tunes on the device, since you don't know what strategy they were written for...and this may be unwise and unsafe for your tranny. If you can get your hands on an SF3, then you will be able to update the device with SCT's new pre-programmed tunes which are written for strategy VXCF9...this update also give you the ability to turn the EGR valve on/off.
