'03 Turbo fit an '05 ???

Will a '03 fit as a direct replacement on a '05 ??
What needs to be done if not ??

Yeah you need the pedistal from an 03 turbo as well

You can put the 03 in for the 05 without changing the pedastal if you just use 2 of the 3 bolts. I know a few people doing this without any current problems.

The 03 is a non VGT correct? If so, I would assume the 03 would be a more reliable upgrade? Or is it a better flowing/higher boosting unit??

No the 03 is still a vgt but it it has 10 blades instead of 12 like the 04-07 turbos. The only difference you will have is that the 03s have an insane whistle.

The '03 6.0 is a VGT, you could also get a 7.3 in '03 so make sure it's for the 6.0. People are after the '03 because of the loud whistle it makes.

How are the '03 as far as reliability ? did they have ball bearings or bushings ?
My turbo is trashed ( sounds like a beercan rattling around in the exhaust LOL ) and I have a line on a '03 if it will work without any modifications ...I use my truck everyday so I cannot be down trying to "FAB " up stuff to make it fit

( guy says came off his '03 and it was for a 6.0 .. original mounting pedestal included w/turbo )

All 6.0 VGT have bushing style bearings, they rely on a thin layer of oil between the bushing and shaft. You will not need to modify/fab anything as long as you get the pedistal with it.

I want to get the PowerMax Turbo but just can't swing the funds right now... lost my job as a Class 8 Fleet mgr after 18yrs due to company restructures...working again but at nowhere near my old salary !
I know my turbo can't hold up much longer and if I can get this '03 and make it work hopefully it will last till my income situation changes for the better and I can get the new turbo ..
