What Next?
Ok since I've got this problem where I now have to constantly spend money on my rig what's next? I'm thinking I need to get a better flowing air intake.....my problem is I'm having a VERY hard time convincing myself that the AFE Stage II is ACTUALLY worth it's weight in gold - at at that price it should be made of gold. What else is out there that will give me more flow and won't break the bank? Keeping in mind that every couple of weeks I'm out at the ranch so I need it to actually block dirt and crap.

Rod I have the stage one and love it, its deffinatly alot cheaper, just a thought. Man does it make the turbo louder, course, that's on a 7.3L... I got my stage one for 200 bucks, I didn't see that extra piece of pipe being worth that much more. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyone had a stage one then switched to a stage 2?? maybe get some comparison going |

I'm gonna do a little fab work
I bought a kit from a guy on e-bay that is basically an aluminum tube and a K&N filter on it. I know that someone will say negative stuff against the K&N but I run these on every chopper build and on every other vehicle I own. I think that they are the best. Check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT He has some on there for the 6.0 diesles too. It ran me $128.00 after shipping costs. Didn't think that this was too bad a deal. What I'm gonna do is build my own box similar to a stage 2 box except mine won't be outta cheap-@#% plastic (diamond plate is what I'm thinking), then I'm gonna fabricate a duct system to go from either the grill area or bumper area to force cool air onto the filter as I'm cruising down the road. I figure I'll spen maybe $40.00 on diamond plate and materials. I think that this will give me what I want for less money. Cause I think I'm right in the fact that big air that is cool and rushing over my filter will be a good thing. what do ya all think about that...$168 bucks vs $488 I'll let ya know how this little setup works once I get all of the stuff fabricated and installed. rob |

I like the new AEM intake systems with the Dryflow synthetic filter...it never needs oiled, just clean, dry, re-install. I bought a replacement filter thinking it may fit into my airaid box, but the diameter of the airaid is a bit bigger. If you wanted to try and make a system your self I will sent you the filter for 30 bucks shipped. Its brand new in the box stickers included. I can get you measurements if anyone is interested.
Larry is on this Trueflow kick right now. He even added a video to our site that they made....see it HERE. Doesnt look too bad...jury is still out on this one. The video is at the bottom of the page. If your interested on any of the others let me know I will see what I can do. |
