you will gain about 1-2mpg and the shifting will be a lot better....

a custom tow file will help. as to your tranny problem it was probably just the temp sending unit that failed. its an easy fix and dang near the only problem i ever heard with these trannys. if you do lots of towing id get some gauges as well. boost tranny egt

For towing, SCT with custom tunes are the way to go. Just be sure to tell the custom tuner what mods you have (studs, exhaust, ect, ect). Also as already mentioned, a set of aftermarket gauges or an Edge to monitor temps is a must when towing. The stock gauges won't tell you anything until it's too late.

well i was in your boat a week ago. i bought my first custom tune and if you thought just putting the sct on your truck was awesome, custom tunes are AMAZING. i think i drive a race truck now haha

so basically its worth the extra $50 to get the custom tunes when you buy the programmer. now programmer first or swap the exhaust first? cause im on a limited budget and cant just throw it all on there at once. and if i get the programmer first then do i need to wait until i get the exhaust done to buy the custom tunes?

I vote gauges first!
Since your on a budget, I would just delete the restrictions in your current exhaust ie: cat and muffler. Then buy the SCT |

Another vote for just delete your muffler and cat in your stock exhaust, gauges, and then SCT,
