Is my want for 20mpg highway resonable with the mods i selected? This assumes traveling at 65mph and babying it.

How necessary is the head gasket change when you stud it? Can you stud it without taking the cab off?

What is SCT? (SuperDuty Custom Tune)?

Sorry for all the newb questions.

I get 20 on the highway. With a dually you will have to try harder to get up to 20. But the top 3 to a better truck is, egr delete or block, custom tuning and arp studs.

SCT is a company, not related to Ford.
SCT Performance - More Power! Less Fuel!
This is the custom tuning that I and many will reccomend.

I get 17-18, if you want 20 set your cruise at 65. I've got 410 gears, AFE si2 Intake, dpf delete, dual exhaust, run spartan 210

anything to improve efficiency will yield better MPG....

check heads for flatness
ARP studs with new headgaskets (new gaskets is a must)
EGR delete
rebuilt OEM oil cooler
ELC coolant and a coolant filter
SCT with Matt at gearhead's SRL tune ((this claims to get the best mpg) and you can still tow with it, many people do)
4 inch turboback exhaust with cat delete
edge insight for gauges
stock intake is more the sufficient on a mildly modded and decently modded truck

Also use fuel additives, the ford cetane booster without a doubt keeps mpg consistent, especially on the highway. I notice it especially with a mix of driving. I get 16mpg mixed no additive then 17 with the additive and the mods in my sig.
