SCT Questions
Just got my SCT Livewire yesterday. WOW! That thing rips! I had a Superchips in there sent it back and got the Livewire. Man I love it! Smokes the tires! First question is about the egr. It ask if you want it on or off. I have seen this question on here before, but never really saw an answer. What exactly does this function do? Also was wondering about the other options on there. I dont want to screw anything up. Thanks in advance for yalls help.

If you did an egr delete kit on your truck then you want it off. If you still have the egr then you want it on.

You want it off either way, but do yourself a favor and get custom tunes.

Ok yall are confusing me. lol Johnwayne1982 said one thing and Sickstroke6.0 says another. lol I have not done the EGR delete. I hope to do one someday. What is it gonna do if I turn it off, and still have the EGR? I plan on getting some custom tunes in the near future. I wanted to see what kind of fuel mileage I could get out of the canned tunes before I look into custom tunes. Also gotta figure out who to get custom tunes from.

Well if it tells you anything, ALL custom tunes, whether the truck has an EGR or not, have the EGR disabled.
And for custom tunes, go with Matt at Gearhead or Eric at Innovative. |

well i have the livewire and i left the egr on. whats it do if i turn it off, i still have my egr but one person says to leave it on the other says turn it off. so your saying if i have the egr and i turn it off it will basically disable it and everything will be ok.
also i have been running the canned street tune. is it ok to run the performance tune and tow my really small trailer with my mower on it. prolly doesnt even way 1 ton? thonk i will be alright? |

if you still have not deleted your egr then by you turning it off "on the programmer" you are not stopping the exhaust from running thru the egr system itself.

I turned the EGR off this eve before I came to work. When I started the truck within a few seconds the turbo did it's check or whatever it's called. Lol. I can't remember exactly what that's called. Anyway it never did it again. I know this can't be good.

Turbo did what? Have the egr off is perfectly fine. Hot exhaust gasses still enter the cooler but it prevents it from going into your intake. Haveing it off just prevents the signal from being sent to open the valve. Don't you think your truck will run better if it's not eating it's own waste?
