oil cooler?

I will be doing a egr delete soon and see its recommended that I replace the oil cooler while I am at it. Can someone tell me why you should replace the oil cooler and what is wrong with the stock cooler?

Stock coolers get clogged typically by 50k miles. Its recommended while you are down to the top of the block to replace the oil cooler because when it fails the head gaskets are sure to blow soon after. The coolant clogs within the cooler and the oil temps climb, leading to a much larger bill.
