intake elbow and cai

how much of an advatage does the intake elbow give you over stock, and what about also putting another intake set up beyond that. like cai or s&b?? how much of a difference would having a 2 part intake make on air flow?

The intake elbow is mostly cosmetic and if you want ports for boost, meth, nitrous, propane, etc. Yes, it may have a slight effect, but not one noticeable on a dyno, pyro, or seat of the pants. As for the CAI, it will vary from truck to truck, but you will feel an increase and hear a more pronounced turbo whistle. As for what CAI to get, look at the aFe stage 2 with proguard 7 filter or the S&B CAI.

Neither are worth the money. They both look pretty if you have money burning a hole in your pocket though...

I like the AFE with a pro guard 7 filter. S & B is also a good choice and less expensive. That being said you won't notice any seat of the pants HP difference with either. Unless you're trying to squeeze everything you can out of the truck or building a high HP motor the factory intake is just fine and NOTHING aftermarket will filter better than the stock filter. The intake elbow is also nothing more than cosmetic. The real airflow restriction on a 6.0L is in the intake manifold itself.

If you did want to go with the CAI as well as the intake elbow I think this might be a decent thing to look at. Both for $550 and then a $100 rebate. What I'm thinking about

S&B Intake Elbow & Cold Air Intake Combo 73-1003 73-1003 | Air Intake | 03-07 6.0L Power Stroke | Ford Power Stroke | Diesel Power | Performance Truck Products
