Which Tuner?
Well im thinking about getting a chip and im having trouble deciding what to go with. I've herd great things about sct, but switch on the fly would be nice. I don't need lots of crazy tunes just something to give it a little more get up and go while being able to crank it up and have fun with it once and a while. Another question is what is safer? a module that hooks up under the hood or one that plugs in the ecm (I think thats what its called) under the dash?
I have a 2003 F-350 CC Dually 4x4 6.0L with straight pipe and egr delete. |

There is a reason that the majority of 6.0L owners run the SCT tuner with custom tuning. It has proven to be the best tuner out there for our trucks. It not only tunes the motor but it also tunes the tranny. Personally I would not want the "on the fly" tuning for my tranny. I value my equipment too much. Custom tuning is just that.... custom for you, your truck/mods, and what your want your truck to do. Sure there are other tuners/chips out there but for me, its SCT all the way. I have run other tuners, and I paid dearly for it..... in very expensive parts and labor!

I have also run the Predator. It ate a tranny and a set of heads. I know there are other tuners out there and I am sure there will be others chime in about them but like I said, most of us run SCT for a reason, it is just better for our trucks until someone or something comes along and proves they are better.

I started out with the hypetech, adjustable on the fly. When smashing down on the skinny pedal, when the trans shifted, it would send the truck into a limp mode until I let off the throttle. It did this in all gear shifts. I'm assuming it was designed that way so you wouldn't damage the trans.
