To all SCT customers:

It is very important that if you go to the dealership and get reflashed that you unlock your box before loading any tunes. The Unlock button is in the Liveload software.

If you do not unlock your box, when you reload your stock file you will be loading the stock file before the reflash. This was a change made by SCT when developing the software so customers can use the same Liveload files with the Xcal2 and the Livewire.

Most of the time we don't know when the customer gets a reflash so it is impossible for us to warn anyone, that is the reason we are starting this thread.

If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact us or SCT directly 407-744-2447 / SCT Flash Devices - MORE Power . . . Period!.

Thanks & have a great day,
Vivian
Could someone please tell me how to unlock my box? I just bought an xcal 2 from my buddy and it still has three tunes on it that I want to get rid of. Before he gave it to me he returned his back to stock, which I thought was all he needed to do? When I install the tunes from DJ will that automatically take them off? Man I'm confused...

I believe you need to contact SCT to have your programmer re-assigned to you. There is software on the unit that keeps you from being able to jump from one vehicle to the other. SCT has put 4 or 5 "unlocks" on the unit but you have to contact them to get it switched. Once you get in touch with them, they will assign your truck strategy and serial number to the unit. I believe that's all you should need but others will correct me if not.

Figured it out. Once the box is returned to stock it then can go to another truck. This can be done 5 times with the xcal 2. What I forgot to do was unlock the box so that it could be used on my truck. Now that I've done that, I installed the tune from DJ (looney) and all I can say is MONEY WELL SPENT!!!

Talking

So....I just recently bought an XCal2 for my '03 6.0l. I'm just learning all the tuning/flash lingo, so now i'm trying my best to keep up with all this. I've already tried all 3 programs from my SCT, without returning the vehicle to stock even once. I'm assuming (1) I haven't screwed myself yet, because I haven't updated the device or have I?? and (2) Either way, I need to call SCT and get the dump file so I can save my stock tune to my computer. The last question is, when do I need to unlock my programmer from live load?? Thanks a lot fellas and ladies...

The tunes are awesome compared to the Superchips Cortex I had a few weeks ago.

Well I'm no expert, but I'll help you out as much as I can. As for not returning your vehicle to stock before trying a new tune, not a problem, from what I've been told (Vivian from DJ's) it want hurt a thing. When I bought my xcal 2 I went to SCT's website and updated the firmware, then I downloaded the live load so that the custom tunes could be installed. As far as unlocking your box you only want to do that if you take your truck into the dealership for a reflash or if you sell/give your box away. The xcal 2 can be unlocked 5 times, after the 5th time it has to be sent back to SCT. Hope this helps..
