I did kind of the same thing, only with a "screen". I cut one big hole in the rad support, my first screen was just that, "ss" screen, I recently removed that and replaced it with an aluminum plate with several 1/2" holes drilled in it.

I'm going back to the big hole with a SS screen soon though
