EGR Delete Question
I have 6 6.0 diesels in my fleet, I am wanting to put the EGR Delete kits on them, my question is. Do I have to buy a aftermarket tuner for this? I'm not looking to add any more power to these trucks. Thanks in advance!!

Someone will chime in, but I think the kits throw codes and a tuner is needed to turn it off. Also, there's a topic going on right now about how River City Diesel has screwed forum members with faulty product and service. Avoid their EGR delete kits if possible.

it will throw a check engine code on 05+ trucks. However if you can deal with a CEL light on all the time, its no big deal.

If you use the modified bulletproof egr cooler you won't have to worry about any cel or tuners.

I think the issues with rcd is with there injectors and not there egr delets, it would be pretty hard to screw up an egr delete... There products is very nice, I cannot attest for there injectors though.

I get 2 codes for unplugging the egr valve. And if the exhaust flow is 100% blocked from the cooler I get 1 code.
I think 03-04 switch to limp mode if they get one of these codes. What year are your fleet trucks, and what has been done to them? It would bee good to get one SCT so that you can keep an eye on all of the trucks for codes that you do not want. But you do not need it for the egr delete. to save some money you could also just buy the up-pipe only, and unplug the egr valve. When the valve is unplugged it is closed Last edited by smokersteve; 09-24-2010 at 01:30 PM. |

It would be better to block the exhaust flow

Post from that Topic "I wish I would have found this thread a few days ago!!! My RCD EGR Delete kit just came in...and at first it looked great. Nice polished aluminum and a powdercoated finish. However its still not in my truck...I had to give it to a buddy to take to his shop and acid wash the internals...They were sooo f-ing dirty inside i would never put that in my truck. My friend called me today and he actually had to bore out the inside of the smalled lead tube. There was a piece of welding slag jammed in there! Shows what kind of time and care they spend on their work...I definately wont be ordering from there again" |

I put a egr delete kit on our 05 f-550 service truck and never got a CEL

If the trucks have fords newest flash for the 6.0 on them you will need an SCT and custom tunes. No getting around it. Thats for any 03 up 6.0's with EGR deletes
