Gauges, tuner, etc. Need advice
I just bought an '03 F250 CC 4X4 short bed with the 6.0. The previous owner put new heads on it, head studs, egr delete, new oil cooler and it was all done at River City Diesel. It has a rebuilt trans with billet torque converter and I was told they did a shift kit which I don't know what that entails. It has a 3.5" downpipe with a 5" straight exhaust out the back to a 6" tip. I'm not planning on towing a lot with it, mostly just bought it for driving to work, which is 95 percent highway. So here's the questions. I'd like to put a tuner on it and I've heard a lot of good things about the SCT tuner with Innovative's tunes but I've read that Spartan makes a tuner for the 6.0 and with all the good things I've been hearing about the tunes for the 6.4, I'm not sure which to go with. If I go with the SCT, I'm not sure if I should go with gauges or a digital engine monitoring. If gauges, what gauges should I get besides EGT? Boost, trans temp, EOT, etc? I'm already planning to do a coolant filter from Diesel Site and an Amsoil bypass filter kit running 10-30 Amsoil. Would Diesel Sites trans filter be worth doing? Am I forgetting anything? I'd appreciate any advice you guys have.
