New home made mod

Ok ok before anyone laughs at me for this i had good intent and if it dosent work oh well it was fun, gave me something to do, and its a new mod.

Ok here it is.

If anyone has seen the STI or the EVO8 they have a water tank that apon pressing a button will spray water into the intercooler face inturn cooling the intaka charge, denser charge means more hp and tq. Well i made one. lol.

Taking a small overflow tank and some winsheld sprayer pumps i rig it up along with 5 small nosil that sprays in a 360deg pattern. They are mounted in each corner and one in the middle. I havent gone out and seen if there is any difference. I know on the sti it makes a proven gain in hp on hot days. So we will see. If it makes no difference oh well i had fun making it and installing the kit.

Ive got pics and some videos so i will post them when Kahla gets the pics loaded to the computer.

You know i really doubt it will seeing how the intercooler is so large. But once i got the cover off the top of the rad support i saw another cooler im not sure of what it was for. But it was between the intercooler and the A/C. so im not sure who knows.

You might try spraying alcohol/water mixture onto the outside of the intercooler as well.

And if you really want to have fun, you could use a 3lb CO2 tank (found on ebay for 19 bux) and spray liquid CO2 on the outer surface of the intercooler. (CO2 can be filled about anywhere, sports authority, paintball shop, compressed gas shop, etc.)

This could be setup with a boost window switch so that the CO2 didnt spray until the psi was over 15 or so. This would prevent any kind of condensation on the inside of the intercooler considering the turbo's output is going to be in the 200*F range as it hits the intercooler... Doing this would be like driving the truck in antartica (liquid CO2 hitting a phase change is what, -70*F?) thus making the intercooler much more efficient and should net significant gains.

Food for thought. ; )

ps - now that I think about it, the same thing could be done to the air conditioning's condensor!! Whoa nelly that'd be cool! Literally and pun intended!! hahaha

That's what I was going to say yota. I've seen gassers with co2 to a block on the fuel lines exiting onto the intercooler. Saw some pretty good gains with that. Alot of the turbo bikes have it also, since there's nowhere to mount the intercooler where it would be effective.

This will work. We sell a kit from DEI that does the same thing, but is very expensive. Of course its computer controlled and all fancy and stuff.

Get-R-Did Bobby!
