Will an 03 turbo work on an 06?
Did alot of searchin on the site and couldnt find anything to answer a few q's i have. I have an 06 F350 and want to swap in an 03 trubo. Did Ford make 2 turbos for that year. Cause if i remember correctly are their 03 F250's and 03 1/2 F250's. If thats right, did the turbo change at all. Also will the 03 turbo pedistal bolt up to an 06? Are they both VGT and are their any other parts recommended/required for the swap? What im looking for is the turbo whistle. I have the money for the parts and really want it done soon. More that likely ill have to have the dealer do it cause im currently in Australia and wont be able to do it myself cause im stationed overseas. Thanks for any help guys...............and girls

You can do the work if you understand how to turn a wrench.
The '03 turbos are not that different one has a silencer ring that can pop out. You will need a '03 pedestal and it will bolt up to your truck. I suggest you get an updated VGT actuator. Get the small Ford parts kit that gives you new o-rings, bolts and gaskets. |

Im well mechanically inclined to do the work myself but the fact that im stationed overseas does'nt help me so im just gonna pay someone to do it. Not sure where to get it done at yet, still tryin to figure that out. The truck is at my sisters house in Northern VA outside DC. In your opinion, would you go with the Garrett Powermax VGT or a new 03 turbo from the dealership while running the stock injectors/fuel system?? Ill be getting the "Complete 6.0 Solutions" from puredieselpower.com and just debating on what turbo to go with. Any help would be appreciated. Also, any suggestions to get the work done on the East Coast anywhere North of NC? Thanks!

I really dont know much about the powermax turbo. I say stick with the stock turbo, unless you are planning on building a high hp truck. Even with the stock turbo, a SCT will get you to 400-425hp |

I currently run the powermax its a good DD turbo for what your looking at doing. The cost of a powermax and a stock turbo Id go with the powermax, later down the road you can swap injectors if you decided to. Check your pm there's threads on my truck.

Definitely go with the Powermax and not the 03. The Powermax gives you more options and screams like the 03 turbo. Throw some new sticks at it later and it'll really wake it up.
