6speed manual truck questions
I have searched and found that most of the trucks here are automatics, and I have a few questions for those with manual trucks. I recently got on the band wagon and bought an SCT livewire, and wanted to know everyones experiences with custom tunes for towing. Right now, out of the preloaded tunes, my truck likes the street tune the best, except for the fuel mileage is way down.
Second question is i have 113k on my stock clutch and the truck has towed from day one and had some sort of tunner on it since 3k. I has just now started to slip on the higher hp tunes. As for an aftermarket clutch, whats everyones experiences. I want something that is driveable as I tow in town alot, so it get a workout. |

I am about to go SCT on my 6spd dually. Have you gone custom tunes yet? I am sub'n this one as I will end doing a clutch down the road and the info would be useful.

There are more of us stick-shifters than you think, most are the 7.3L guys though.
I run a custom tune on mine, but i haven't had to change my clutch out yet. I have done a little bit of research on it, because i know i'll have to change it soon. At this point, i'm thinking that i'll end up going with a southbend. Let us know what you end up going with. Are you going to put it in yourself? |

I have been thinking about a tune at some point, just have not got there yet. I have not even through about a replacement clutch for the truck, but then I only have 46k miles.

I have a Zf6 in mine, and I hated the response from the engine at lower RPM's. I am replacing the turbo this weekend and havea set of Custom tunes from Innovative. Can't wait to see how they work.
The tune set I asked for 1000-2100rpm to move the torque curve lower. Turbo to match. Will let you know how it all works out. PS there is 107K mile on the stock clutch and it is getting time for a replacement.... Looking at South bend. |

I have been dissapointed with low rpm/off idle performance as well. It requires a lot more thought in low speed mountain driving than my Dakota did (318 and 5 speed).
I am looking forward to hearing your results. What turbo are you putting in? |

ps 1st gear (((LOW))) is a must to get the truck moving!!! with out it the motor bogs an cant get the load moving without sliding the clutch..

Just trying to keep it together unitl I pull together the funding to get Destroked with a 6.7 motor w/o emissions.
