Brand New SCT tuner does not read VIN

I just got my brand new SCT tuner and when I plug it into the OBDII and follow the steps it does not read my VIN. Says VIN: Blank. And it gives me 2 strategy codes to choose from. What could be the issue and/or what could I be doing wrong? Help!

Call SCT tech support.

It sounds like your truck may already have a tune on it from someone else

After reading your suggestion I got a little woozy thinking I was not going to be able to use my new tuner. I called SCT and as it turns out some of the "older" trucks did not have the VIN programmed into the computer so it does not affect anything. They also said that having two strategy codes is ok, 1 code is for the engine and 1 code is for the transmission. I have sent the info off to Mike at Sinister (who I bought the tuner from) and am excited to get my custom tunes. Thanks for the tip to call SCT.....sometimes I forget the easy steps like that....get to comfortable with the dang computer.
