Question about EGT Probe
I have and probe that is placed in my exhaust pipe about 4" from my turbine outlet. Can that location be used instead of drilling and tapping into the exhaust manifold for the EGT readings? If not, what do you think this was use for.

You can use it but it changes your EGT high limits by quite a bit.
If you do use that probe your new max egt is 850-900 degrees |

above stated is true...post turbo is the wrong place to put it..take the probe out, unhook your batteries, weld the hole closed(with a mig/tig) the uppipe is the prime location, commin from your manifold

Thanks Dave, is one better then the other? Can you tell me what are the max temps if I go with the manifold location.

1250 is max sustained temp at the manifold.
You can go over that for short bursts. Like up hills or at the dragstrip |

|
Or save yourself some time go to the hardware store and get a1/8npt pipe plug and put it in the place of the old probe in the downpipe

Is there a place on this forum where I could find how to install the EGT probe onto the manifold. Thanks

Get yourself a 1/NPT tap the corresponding drill bit.
Crawl under your truck on the drivers side. Look for the exhaust manifold. On the back side of the manifold. Drill your hole, tap your threads and screw the probe in. When done it should like like this
