From what I've heard, and what these guys have said, pro guard 7 is a great filter that flows great too, but if your looking for Uber filtration, the Ford Extreme Duty AIS is the way to go....or so I've heard

I currently run the Dry-S version of the AFE Stage2. Ive only had it on for about 3k miles but so far so good. Before that I had the AEM Dry setup.
Now why did I change. Because the AEM was just a filter on a pipe, with no shileding from the heat of the engine bay. At operating temps, I could sit at a red light for maybe 30 seconds, and just watch intake air temp soar to 110-120+ degrees. Well forget that.
Now with the AFE Stage2, in the same scenario, I can sit at a light for a couple of minutes, and the intake temp might, just might hit 80 degrees.
So just keeping the intake air cooler was a huge factor for me.
As far as filtration goes, seems to be doing just fine. No problems at all.
I have also done the zoodad mod to increase airflow. Cool air is MmMm good.

Have any of you used the "dry" filters or do you know anyone that has? Do they flow as well as the ProGaurd 7? Do they trap dirt as well?

I know many of you bought intakes/filters before the dry filters were available, but, if it was your truck, and you had it to do all over again, which intake/filter would you buy today?

Thanks,

Daryl
When I first started to ask questions about adding performance mods to my 250, a lot of the guys said that unless I was getting a programmer and was planning on adding a lot more HP, then an upgraded highflow CAI would be needed, otherwise they said the stock ai was great, even if I went w/ a straight piped exhaust. I still have my AFE stg2 w/ PG7 in the box sealed, and in my garage. Although since I now have my Livewire w/ looney tunes I think that I may have to get more air to my engine.

The dry filters don't filter as good. They are on the market for lazy people

The progaurd 7 will filter and flow better than anyother intake on the market hands down.

As I stated above. No worries with your sensors with the AFE recharge kits
