What is the deal with Banks?

Alright, I have read all comments on how some Banks products are too expensive and underpowered compared to some of the other performance kits out there. However I have never come across a comment on how someone was running a "six-gun" or "powerpack" kit and had a major engine issue directly related to the performance kit (blown head gaskets ect.). My friend is running a full Powerpack kit on a 05' 6.0 Excursion and loves it. He doesn't race the truck but bought it for fuel economy and towing his race car trailer. It did cost $4000.00 though So my question is does or did anyone run a Banks kit and experienced engine issues related to the performance upgrade.

I have been running the Banks six gun with speedloader for years now and haven't had a single issue. Thats not saying that the Banks system is 100% safe also, each vehicle may respond different to the system too. I know the SCT tuners produce better performance than the Banks, but the reason why there may be more engine problems with those tuners is do to the higher power they produce.

I agree that no system is 100% safe and I know it also depends on the driver for all tuners. Especialy on a non-studded 6.0. If you beat it and dont watch your gauges...it will break.

i didnt know they made a 05 excursion???? i thought they only went up to 03 err sumthin like that...tell me im crazy.ill go find and buy one if they did.6.0 or not

I believe 06 was the last year of thee excursion

Yup, 05 or 06 was the last year. The chassis was never changed though, like the pickups was. It has the leaf spring front suspension but the 05-07 headlight, grille and bumper.

The banks stuff is a standard across the board, basicly same things for every truck

SCT can actually be fine tuned to your needs and wants, from Towing, Racing, Truck Pulls, Dynos, High Power etc, transmission also gets a tuning for itself as well as TQ lockup,

Oh yeah, SCT is a way more versatile tuner. I think it is ridiculous that every time you change a power level, w/ the banks anyway, that the trans has to be relearned. Nature of the beast I guess.

I had the Banks 6 Gun with PDA and blew 6 out of 8 on the head gaskets, cracked both heads, 3 bad injectors, oil cooler and EGR cooler. Was running on the SL setting but never towed anything over Level 3 and wasn't towing when she blew. Here are a few pics.
