why run a 03 turbo?? and not the one on my truck

i have a 2005 6.0 with stock turbo and i hear that people are puttin the 03 turbo on there trucks swapin them out why they put the 03 turbo on? i have a buddy with a 03 turbo that he said i would have off his truck just did not know why people swap them out ?? any imput will help

People are swamping them out because of the 03 whistle. Some say it adds power but it is very small amount.

We do it for the jet engine sound. No performance gain to speak of.

Yea i swapped mine out for an 03 a few months ago and the only difference i noticed was the whistle.

is it really hard to do the swap? do you have to buy any extra parts or does it just bolt right up?

its not to hard the hardest part is getting the rear bolt out of the 03. your first time it should take 4-6 hrs depending on skill. It doesnt require any parts as long as your swapping and not getting a 03 turbo out right as long as you swap the pedestals to. They changed the pedestals after 03.

sounds is the only "benefit" of the 03 turbo, you will see 0 performance gains

The biggest problem I had doing my swap was getting the V-band clamps off the turbo. Lost a 10mm wrench on the back bolt though lol.
