SCT/Guage upgrades for my Stock '06 F250 CC/LB

Hello, I'm not very experienced with performance upgrades from a technical standpoint so I was wondering if you all could help steer me in the right direction. My truck, other than a 5" MBRP exhaust kit with CAT delete kit, is 100% stock. I do a lot of highway driving, towing boats & quads, ect so I'm going to purchase an SCT X3 (with custom tunes from Eric @ Innovative Diesel cause it sounds like many people on this forum reccomend Eric's tunes). Along with the SCT tuner, I'd like to get a pillar mount with 3 guages. My question is (a) what are some good quality guages to purchase and from what website (b) what 3 components would be most important for me to monitor (such as EGT's, tranny temp, oil pressure, ect)?

And finally, what's a good air intake to increase HP/mpg with low maintenance from a cleaning standpoint? Does an air filter make much difference as far as performance, is it even worth upgrading?

Also, if a different SCT model works better for the 06 6.0 diesels please let me know so I can compare my options. Thanks for your help.

I got my SCT (tuned by Eric @ID) and 3 gauge piller mount (EGT, Boost, Trans temp) from Raul at Stealth automotive. Good guy and has answered a ton of questions for me and great service. I run Erics econ tune daily and when I am on the highway cruse set at 65-70 I am getting 17mpg. That's my .02 hope it helps

The X3 is the best bang for the buck SCT device. I highly recommend the Edge Insight for monitoring the engine. It will tell you more than a whole cab of gauges and all you have to do is plug it into the OBD II port so install is easy. No matter what solution you will have to drill and tap the exhaust manifold for the EGT probe. I think it critical to monitor EOT and ECT and the Insight makes that easy.

Sounds like people on here know alot about the X3. I just recieved mine for my 05. Before I can get tune files sent to me, I need to send them info from my truck?? Is this correct? How would I do this? Any info would be gggreeattly appreciated, I took my six gun out and am hating the stock tune haha. Need to get the SCT in there.

1. Connect SCT to OBDII connector under the dash below the steering wheel.
2. Go to the Vehicle Information Menu
3. Select third option down - Read Strategy
4. Get the alphanumeric codes and email back to us
5. Include any modifications done to the truck including.
- SCT Strategy Number
- SCT Serial Number (found on the back of the device)
- SCT Brand: Live-Wire / X3
- Year Model of truck
- Engine Size
- Any Modifications done to the engine

About how long does it take for IDP or Elite to build your tunes and send em to you after you give them your strategy codes and info?? Couple days?

I only deal with IDP, and we typically allow 2 days for the tunes to be built.
