EGT Gauge

Ok, I finally have the gauge and I'm ready to put it in. First, What is the best way to drill the manifold to keep metal from going into the turbo? Or is it worth the time to take the manifold off? And second, Can someone explain which wire I need to splice into so the guage dims the same as my dash lights. Thanks

There is a good writeup on autometer.com I think. Tap the egt probe right at the elbow on the exhaust manifold on the driver side. And the way I did it was turn the truck on lube the drill bit with grease and drill the hole, than lube up the tap with grease and tap it. The grease will pick up the metal shavings. To dim the gauge you want to splice into the headlight switch, can't remember what wire it is though. It tells you in that autometer website article
