which is better, a programmer or a chip
i just got done watching Maintains Video on how to install a chip to the PCM. are they (chips) more reliable than a programmer? I have had experiences in the past with programmers and im not too sure if i want to go that route again. what are your personnal opinions about the two and are chips just as likely to cause PCM issues like the programmers. all opinions welcome.

SCT is what i have been looking at, but.... like i said, i have had issues with the programmers before (not an SCT) and had to replace my PCM. I think the programmer jumbled up the information and locked out my PCM or something. Ford wasnt even able to reload any software, so they replaced it, under warranty thankfully. Have any of you had or heard of this same issue with the SCT? |

Hi Rob, Anything is possible. I have heard of two incidents where the stock computer has gotten corrupted with the SCT but never that the customer had to go to the dealership to get it repaired. I can't lie to you cause there are no guarantees. I'm sure as far as all the programmers are concerned, it is more the exception, than the rule. Thanks, Vivian |

Man, who let this guy and his jokes out of the peanut gallery!!! J/K. i too have had alot of those "chips" in my truck, never noticed a power increase though! I guess i shouldnt have judged the book (programmers) by the cover (my programer). i want to have better power in my truck but just want something reliable. It sounds to me that SCT has been pretty good to everyone in here. maybe ill go that route. |
