You need the turbo of course, and the pedestal. 2003 turbo has a 10 blade turbine wheel which gives it whistle.

The 03 turbo is going to have a more whistle than your 04
due to the fact that it has a 10 blade exhaust wheel, compared to a 12 blade in the 04 (15 in the 05-07)

Some people claim there is a performance gain with the 03 turbo, but I call BS on that one

Only thing I think performance wise it can do maybe less blades easier for airflow to exit.

Also the 04 pedistal will work, you just will be one bolt shy. I know this since I'm using my 04 pedistal. And before someone blasts me I know its wrong. I only did it because I had to get the turbo install or it was going to someone else. Have about 8K and so far so good, knock on wood...

But to answer your question on advantages, reallly none or at least I can't tell. The only thing you can really tell is the whistle, it's insane and I still have a muffler...

Doesn't the 03 have a bigger turbine wheel in it?

Yes, marginally. There might be a pound or so difference at full boost. And yes, straight piped and egr deleted the 03 whistle is insane.
