Truck-going under the knife @ Bulletproof Diesel

So last weekend, my wife and I head out to a picnic here in Arizona and we met Ken, one of the owners of Bulletproof Diesel. We got to chatting about our trucks, how he got started and my concerns about my EGR cooler since my warranty has recently expired and I have had 4 coolers replaced in 100k miles. Here's what happens:


Well, tomorrow, I am going to Bulletproof Diesel's shop to install one of their upgraded EGR coolers. http://www.bulletproofdiesel.com/For...troke_EGR.html While I currently don't have an EGR cooler problem, I am trying to prevent any future problems. Additionally, we have to go through pretty strict emissions checks every 2 years, so a delete is not an option. These guys have been absolutely AWESOME to deal with so far and I can't wait for tomorrow! I will be sure to post plenty of pics as we tear into the Sweet Unit!

Sounds great, I can't delete my cooler either because of emissions and have been looking at the bulletproof cooler. I would really like to see any pics and info you post. Thanks in advance for sharing.

I'd leave it alone and use the SCT with Erics tunes and delete the EGR all together. When you go to test for emissions return your truck to stock to test.

Question EGR Delete

When the EGR cooler goes bad, again and again, and folks just want to delete them, I wonder why they just don't reroute the coolant?

Looks like a short hose and some clamps to me.
The EGR cooler stays for EPA viewing, and no more leak.
Sure it slows the exhaust flow, but no more than stock.

What am I missing?

If you just reroute coolant you are passing super heated exhaust straight into the cylinders. Holy bad idea Batman!
